Gweagal and Dharawal man Rodney Kelly, based in Bermagui NSW,  started a campaign in 2016 to have his ancestors artefacts returned which were taken on the day James Cook arrived at Botany Bay in 1770.
Rodney has traveled to London three times to speak with the British Museum and the Cambridge Museum of Archeology and Anthropology, which hold, respectively, the well-known Gweagal Shield and a number of spears and other artefacts.
At Giiyong Festival, Rodney will talk about the events that took place in Botany Bay on that day in 1770, and outline the progress of his ongoing campaign for repatriation.
